ABOUT

I am currently a member of the College of Dietitians of Manitoba.  I obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree from the University of Guelph, Ontario and completed a Dietetic Internship at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ontario.

 

I obtained my Personal Trainer Specialist Certification through Can-Fit-Pro.  I completed the Canadian Diabetes Association Online Course on Diabetes Clinical Practice Guidelines.  I have completed a PCOS nutritional medical therapy course. I am part of the College of Dietitians of Manitoba's Speaker's Bureau.

 

I enjoy jogging, grabbing a coffee with friends, painting/anything DIY, experimenting with ethnic cuisines and cooking, and spending time with my husband, Jay, and two daughters.

 

 

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Steinbach, Manitoba (2018-Present):      

    • Work in Public Health - Healthy Living with Southern Health-Sante Sud

    • I offer virtual & phone-based nutrition counselling to individuals in Western Canada as part of company's Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) through NDC: Nutrition At Work

    • Work with Eastman Therapy Centre offering outpatient Dietitian services

    • Lead group nutrition tours for local school groups, cardiac/diabetes clients, sports teams, dance clubs, newcomers club, and more at Winnipeg Save on Foods

    • I offered nutrition counselling to individuals in Winnipeg and Southern Manitoba with A Little Nutrition Consulting Company

    • Worked as paediatric Dietitian at the Steinbach Family Resource Centre

    • Guest speaker at various workplaces, educating on employee health & wellness

    • Nutrition sessions at Woodlawn Elementary School in Steinbach, MB

    • Created sports nutrition package for hockey camp at CrossFit in Morden, MB

Okotoks, Alberta (2015-2017):      

    • Lead group nutrition tours for local school groups, cardiac/diabetes clients, sports teams, dance clubs, newcomers club, and more at Okotoks & Calgary Save on Foods

    • I offer nutrition counselling to individuals in Western Canada as part of company's Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs)(via phone) through NDC: Nutrition At Work

    • I work with executives at Medisys Preventative Health Clinic downtown Calgary

    • Guest speaker at 'Young at Heart' seniors event at EFree Church

    • Nutrition services at Momentum Physiotherapy and Peak Performance Gym in High River

    • Offered nutrition advice at Calgary Gluten-Free Expo

    • Worked as Dietitian at the Complete Health Centre (nutrition counseling for pre/post-natal nutrition and beyond)

    • Guest speaker for Ladies Night at EFree Church

    • Presenter at Rec Centre 'Couch to 5km' Running Series

 

Kenora, Ontario (2010-2014):      

    • Worked as a Clinical Dietitian at Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH)

    • Chair of the LWDH Employee Wellness Committee, wrote monthly health newsletter

    • Worked as the Diabetes Education Coordinator with Kenora Chief's Advisory, promoting diabetes awareness/management in various First Nation communities surrounding Kenora

    • Nutrition 'Myth busters' workshop to the Young Professionals Network of Kenora.

    • Participated in local Eating Disorder Resource Group

    • Presented 'Craving Change' workshop to community group

    • Revised/created menus for Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) inpatient home

    • Various nutrition & mental health presentations for CMHA

    • Articles for the Daily Miner & News local newspaper

    • Healthy eating workshops for the cooks & inmates at the Kenora Jail.

    • Smoothies with the Kenora Boy Scouts group.

    • Individual counselling & grocery store tours 

    • Recipe feature in the Dietitians of Canada's newest cookbook, "Cook!" 

    • Sports nutrition workshop to four Kenora hockey teams.

    • Took part in Action Week Against Poverty's campaign "A Walk in Other's Shoes" and attempted to live off of $35 for five days (adriennepenner@blogspot.com)

    • Reviewed menus & kitchen policies and procedures for a long term care centre and hospital in Eastern Ontario.

    • Cooking segment on CJBN, a branch of Shaw Cable.

    • Workshops open to the public at the Kenora Library: Nutrition Tips for Parents & Choosing a Healthy Lifestyle 

    • Saturday morning women's "brunch & learn" at Lakeside Baptist Church. 

    • Guest speaker at the New Horizons Senior Centre           

 

Southern Manitoba (2009-2010)
